"This Website Has Sucked Me In…"
McAllen, Texas resident AxeGrinder, one of our veteran members since 2000, confesses that he is addicted to Guitar War. This prog rock fan who "just enjoys making songs" says, "I never wanted to be a studly guitar player. I never wanted to meet cool people. I never wanted to have access to gigabytes of awesome instrumental guitar songs. But this website has sucked me in and now all of these horrible things have happened to me."
None of us got into music to be like everyone else. If we'd wanted that, we never would have picked up the guitar, bass, or synthesizer in the first place. We never would have discovered that we had a knack for scribbling songs or singing. We never would have devoted countless hours to our music.
Guitar War, if you want the nutshell version, is a close-knit community of devoted musicians from around the world who compete with each other in one place, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
We're talking bass players, singers, songwriters, guitarists, and keyboard players.
During competition, it's bass players against bass players. Singers against singers. Teams form and compete against other teams. Other musicians jump into the fray and deliver spot-on critical comments about style, technique, and more.
The point of all of this craziness? To become better.
Guitarist Kyle Flory says, "My knowledge and confidence on guitar improved exponentially during my years here." This 23 year-old Little Rock, AR resident goes on to say that, "The amount of inspiration you can receive from just listening to fellow members is almost overwhelming."
